I guess I don't understand the benefit of having the BFS model with the throttle mounted on the frame.

Why would anyone ever want this? I'm planning on picking up the BTS model but thought I'd ask first. Thanks, Kevin. Ridin' Green LawnSite Fanatic. Location Michigan. Guys who learned with the hip mounted throttle tend to prefer them. The belief is that the tube mounted throttle cable will get snagged on bushes etc when blowing out flower beds or around hedges, or on the edge of the trailer or truck when an employee grabs the blower and goes without making sure it is free.

You'd have to be pretty careless and not paying any attention to what you are doing to do any of that. The hip mounted handle can get caught just as easily on bushes. Anyone with an open mind will quickly see the tube mounted throttle has lots of benefits, and no real down side. I have never snagged a throttle cable- ever. The local dealers here have told me that while old school guys still believe in the "snag the hedge" idea and like the the hip throttle, more and more are trying the tube mounted throttles, enough so, that most dealers don't even have the hip mounted style on display or even in stock.

Location upstate, ny. I just picked up the bts because that's what my dealer had. First impression, NOPE don't like it. I'm the old school fella Ridin is talking about. Then I saw the amount of adjustment in the handle itself. You can put it anywhere on the tube and any angle, which makes all the difference!! So I got it just about right and then noticed that the trigger acts the same as the hip throttle as well. So there is infinite positions of throttle not just using your finger for action.

Easy to get used to and plenty comfortable. So I'm sticking with it. I'm sure I'll never even know the difference in 10 minutes of workin with it. You can compare as many blowers as you wish. However, for the best results , we recommend you to compare only 2 blowers at a time. Whether the hip-mount or the tube-mount is better is a matter of personal preference.
