What is the difference between ping g20 and i20
You're not going to get anything out of getting a new driver. You're losing about 30 to 40 yards of carry JUST by not hitting the sweet spot, regardless of which driver you're using.
This is a no brainer. If you're really determined to get a new driver, get the G You need as much forgiveness as possible with the largest sweet spot. The I20 is not meant for you.
Just the honest truth. No doubt about it. G20 with a properly fit shaft. My buddy is a scratch golfer and got an i He loves it but told me without a doubt get the g20 or something more forgiving than the i I am a good ballstriker and typically shoot low 80's. I find the i20 hybrid easy to hit and long.
If I were to get ping woods I would definitely go g Thx for your replies I think the low smash factor was a result of 3 factors. Incorrect swing speed measurements, Range Balls and of course an inconsistent swing. I was at Golfsmith today hitting more balls while trying to optimize the shaft and the smash factor was much better in the 1. I think the launch monitors are more accurate as it is a brand new store with the latest technology. I picked up 14 yds of carry on average over my current driver with the Ping G20 driver 9.
Well worth a purchase in my opinion. The G20 with that combination was the longest and straightest I tried. It was slightly longer than the I20 with the project X 6. So in my mind the debate is settled it is the G20 for me. Provided you have a somewhat repeatble golf swing, a good fitter should be able to get you optimal or as close as you can come with either head. I ran into the same issue and tried both drivers on the LM, on the range and on the course. The i20 gave me the best numbers on the LM but only by a fraction.
What I found on the range is that the G20 gave me too much side spin when I left the face open for a fade. The i20 performed much better in this area for me. Also, the i20 setup for my eye much better but I am coming from an i15 so that probably had something to do with it. AND, make sure the G20 is in the proper loft and is verified.
You don't want your results skewed by a head that might be different than stamped loft, as is often the case with PING driver heads. The i20 is marketed towards higher speed and spin players, but I've had no problems with the G The added forgiveness is just another bonus to go with the ridiculous distance.
I also chose the G20 because it was cheaper, and the finish will hold up better over time. There's no way you can stop the face and sole wearing on the i20, while the G20 will still look relatively new after months of play.
I got the I20 about a month ago, switched from the G I don't know why a lot of people are saying that the I20 is for low handicappers or for higher SS players. To me, the I20 is just as forgiving if not better than the G The head shape is more traditional, feel is a more solid, sound is more muted, not clanky or pingy. Heel shot tend to go straight, toe shots tends to hook a little. Im hitting it about yards further than the G I tend to hit it a little high though, may be due to the PX 6.
This is by far the best driver Ping has made. What shaft and clubhead loft did you have with the G20? I got the i20 and relly like it, that said the g20 is also very good.
I just like the look and feel of the i20 more. I would recommend going with the ping shaft and not the project x though because it is too weak and it has too much spin. I demo'd the g20 and i20 side by side. I hit both in 8. The i20 was the stock shaft in stiff and the G20 was the stock "Tour" shaft in stiff.
Ping also completes the package with a great headcover. It is nicely shaped, has a long sock that protects the shaft and has a strap like handle that makes it easy to remove. Pings ID-8 grips are also really nice.
It is a version of a Tour Velvet grip, but with more cut-out space. For more information: www. Skip to content Review: Ping i20 Driver. Incredibly Solid. Over the years Ping has designed two heads: the G-series and the I-series.
The G-series tends to be more forgiving while the I-series was more workable. The g20 and i20 fit the same mold. I was impressed by how easy, straight and long the g20 driver was. Review here I am even more impressed that the i20 is longer and incredibly solid, but not quite as forgiving. The draw of this club for many will be the black stealthy looks. I had a set of old ping eye2 irons that I loved and played to a 6 handicap when I was in college. I traded those for an off-the-rack set of TaylorMade irons about 3 years ago; I hate these irons. I'm going back to Ping. My question is this: since I play much less frequently now fewer than 20 times per year and to only a handicap of , what is the better iron set for me, the G20 or i20?
I plan on playing more and getting back to my old form. Also, is web-fitting good enough to purchase a custom set or do I need to actually hit a few shots with a fitter? If you liked the Eye 2s, why not get another set? Aug 13, 11, 3, Thats a good deal on those. I'm with Azgreg, get another set of Eye 2's.
